Most Obi have 3-4 colours in them, the IWASA Obi material uses more than 8 different colours, so tightly hand loomed that at first glance it appears 'painted'.  There is real rolled gold foil stitched into the fabric and the yarn is the highest possible quality in Japan.  This is the quality of hand looming required by the Royal Family of Japan and is usually unaccessible.

Kimono Collections has secured only enough of this magnificent fabric to create 2 of these delicate works art.  It is not possible to re-create this particular Obi fabric – there will only ever be these 2 bags world-wide.

This Silk Obi material is created by the famous Nishi-Jin company. Highly prized and sought after, Obi from this company is considered the best in Japan.

The IWASA fabric was made for an incredibly expensive Obi (approx Y600,000 or around US$6,000).
